I very much enjoyed Almost Home. It was a quick read; it's a great "escape" book, when you just want to pass time and not have to focus too much on the characters or the plotline. Although it didn't grab and steadfastly hold my attention, I did find that I was able to stop and start the book with relative ease.

I feel like everyone needs a place like Dolly's house to escape to. For some, that might be church. For others, it could be a girlfriend's or a sister's house. Dolly seems to have that inherent ability to make you feel welcome and at home. The cast of characters staying in her boarding house were both interesting and somewhat well-developed. As the reader, I was able to relate to them and what their own arc brought to the overall story.

Thank you to bookishfirst for the opportunity to read and review this new book.
