We rented the last of the upstairs rooms a couple of weeks ago, one to a perfectly horrible couple—the Clanahans from Reno, Nevada”

Almost Home is a historical fiction book about a boarding house in Alabama, the owners, and the people that come to occupy the rooms. The book lures you in right from the beginning, with a hand written letter.
The writing draws you in with the descriptive words of the people, surroundings and the language, you can almost smell the grass and taste the sweet tea. It drives your curosity, you wonder about the cast of characters, inhabiting the boarding house and it’s owners.

The cover denotes of a past place and time, when life was slower. It is not a cover that draws my attention but it is the words inside that want to keep me involved and invested.
