I loved this excerpt of Almost Home. Kindhearted Dolly and her hard-working husband, Si, are the owners of an aging grand home. The reader learns that Dolly grew up in this house with her sister. Times are difficult and they have taken in boarders. We hear about some of the boarders through Dolly’s perspective, but the reader meets Anna and Jessie, Illinois farm owners who are in dire straights. They are looking for a fresh start. I was taken with Dolly and Anna and look forward to reading how their friendship grows. This book seems like my kind of story. I am anxious to read more.
