I was not a fan of this book and not sure if its because the cover was disturbing to me or because I did not read the first book in the "series". Althought it stated it was a stand-alone I felt like I was missing something. I did like to see how the cases/clients that Sam has are interconnected. Searching throught the clues and finding how it relates to his past was interesting as well.
There is mystery long with surprises in this book that keep you entertained. I think I will have to read the first book in this series to get a better grasp on the story.
Sam discovers things that leads himself and his team to dig deeper and find that the dead cannot have peace.
I suggest reading book one to fully understand the background and once doing that you will enjoy the series as intended. I wouldn't rule this series out instead I would give it a try and enjoy both books.
