This story hits you hard as you realize that while American has come a very long way it still even so has a longer way to go. When you look at the struggle of African-Americans and the impact that slavery has had on the country, I can understand even in the smallest way that the story of racism, slavery and its aftermath needs to be understood by everyone. History is doomed to repeat itself if we don’t learn from the past.
