“All We Ever Wanted” is an excellent choice for a summer read in the era of awareness of the “Me Too” movement. It is easy to see why Emily Giffin’s books translate so well to film. Her powers of description of people and places are pretty impressively apparent in her domestic drama dealing with themes of economic disparity, parental responsibility, and assault. When an author is able to thoroughly engage the reader in a story, this one told in the voices of just three very likable characters, about important matters in the current public discourse that is an admirable achievement. I enjoyed the novel very much and look forward to investigating more of this writer’s work in the future. I have no doubt it will be a satisfying read for many others as well.
