This novel addresses a topic that is gut-wrenching, relevant and so important. It follows two very different families: Kirk, Nina, and Finch who are an elite, rich family; and Tom and Lyla who are a middle class family. 17-year-old Lyla has an inappropriate picture taken of her at a party. The picture is captioned with a racist comment and spread around the school. The story unravels from multiple perspectives and I appreciated the opportunity to be inside of each characters head.

This story reveals the prevalence of privilege in our culture - the entitlement of the rich and the discrimination of women and minorities. I 100% believe that this privilege NEEDS to be exposed and talked about. However, I personally didn't connect with the writing and the characters. They fell a little flat and I wasn't as engaged in the story as I wanted to be. 3 stars because the execution of the story wasn't strong enough for me.
