This was a miss for me. I DNF’ed it after the first few chapters. I tried so hard to get into it and I just couldn’t seem to get into the characters shoes, even though I thought the main character was very interesting. I even thought the premise was good too. I read the first look and thought this would be a great tale of past and present, of healing, and growth. And it probably is, but I couldn’t get past the first few chapters. And I loved what I read in the first look, but moving past it was slow and a bit tedious and boring. I may try to give it another chance soon. Lately, I’ve needed books to really grab me from the very first page and keep it interesting and have me wanting to keep reading, but this book didn’t do that for me. It felt like reading it was going to feel like a chore. I think it is a perfect read for those who like a historical, slow burn type of read.
