Intriguing
I really enjoyed this book. Emily and Elizabet a century apart in age are the two main characters of the book. They both are in limbo from a grief that they can not overcome. Emily is a lawyer who has the job of archiving records in the basement of an historical church that may be tore down. She realizes that this is the Church her parents were married in which is hard for her because they were killed in an automobile accident when she was 16 and she has been sad ever since. Going through the records she comes upon a diary written by Elizabet Thomas, who is also saddened by the death of her beloved Rupert that she can not get over. During this delightful story Emily gets some guidance from Pastor Michael and she can always smell the perfume of Dorothea who is Elizabet's best friend and also the operator of a very successful brothel back in the early 1900's. Emily and Elizabet help each other overcome their grief and help save not only the records in the church but the church itself. I highly recommend this book which is so well written. Thank you Bookish first for an advanced copy of this book.
