I was really excited to get a copy of this book to review, but couldn't get pass the first chapter with all the grammar issues. Too many 'as' in the middle of sentences and some metaphors that just didn't work for me. The dinner scene seemed too long. The novel felt more like a rough draft and could have benefited from another round of edits.
The first chapter's dialogue felt stiff and awkward. I also got confused on the characters. The pacing was slow too. I guess I was expecting more? I know books are subjective. The premise of a two lives convergening from the past to the present sounded exciting and I was disappointed when I couldn't get into the story.
Like I mentioned before, this is all subjective. Just because the book didn't speak to me, doesn't mean other readers might think differently. And I do think if the book goes through another round of edits, the writing might shine.
