A story of facing grief than spans the centuries with the viewpoints of both Emily living in current day and Elizabet who has long passed and is a ghost inhabiting the church Emily is now archiving. I really loved the story line which makes this review actually quite hard to decide how to write. Watching them both face their grief over their losses of loved ones I really did want to know how their stories progressed. The historical aspect as Emily reads Elizabet's diaries was a great way to connect the two.
There is really only one reason I gave a lower rating but to me it's a big one. I felt there was too much telling and not enough showing within the story, and many things were really drug out and explained multiple times when it really wasn't necessary. That space could've been used to maybe tell us more of Elizabet and Dorothea or Collin and his wife who took Emily in and expand that relationship.
