All That Was seems like an interesting book for a number of reasons. Finding and going through records from history has always fascinated me and even more so when it combines with working through emotions of ones own.
I love the cover, but most of all, the idea that Emily will find herself living in two different lifetimes/bodies is a familiar concept to me.
I studied with the late Dr. Elie Wiesel -- the famed holocaust author & ethics scholar
in college and when we studied the Holocaust he said "You're about to enter a dark tunnel and when you come out (of the tunnel) you will be changed." Of course I thought "not me..." but he was right. Immersing yourself in the study of another time will actually force you to allow it to occupy your mind so much you think of everything in terms of how it would have happened then. It seems like the premise of this book embodies that idea.
