I was absolutely intrigued by the blurb for this book— the parallels between a modern day character and the historical writings she is reading sounded like a great story! But as I read the excerpt of this story I found the writing to be too stiff and formal, too descriptive in odd places. The dialogue didn’t flow as a normal conversation would. Unfortunately I just could not get into the book; the writing style was just not for me.
