Beautifully written, if a bit slow to start

I think this sample is written beautifully. I found myself thoroughly enjoying they story as it developed but did think it's pacing was a little slow. I'm sure that's going to contribute to the overall feel as we read more, but that's what stuck out the most to me.

Also, I think the cover is lovely! I love the comparison of old and new.
