I tried really hard to read this one and was just a not a fan. It felt like there was just too much sadness and hardship for the main characters and maybe it does get better at the end but I was just overwhelmed with it. I think it is so sad that authors now always just turn to drugs and when the main character felt all he could do was sell drugs seemed a little farfetched to me. Sal just had so much put his shoulders by his father and then by choice. I understand that he had a hard time talking with his father but I think that his grief was too much and he probably did not realize that was making his decisions for him.
Noor was a good character that just wanted to be loved and be a friend. I did enjoy her and wanted her to just be happy. It just seemed too much for a young adult story. Of course you do not have to take my word for it because it also received any wonderful reviews.
