What I really love about the brief synopsis and first few pages that I read, was the alternating perspectives between Sal & Noor along with the alternating timelines from now and "then" where Sal's mother, Misbah, is the narrator. It is really interesting to hear the then and now of Pakistani culture and beliefs.

I'm excited to read more about Sal, Noor, & Misbah's story. From just the little bit that I read, my heart hurts a little for the lost relationship between Misbah and Noor, especially knowing that Misbah is growing ill and weaker by the minute. It also hurts a little for the lost friendship between Noor & Sal. I can feel the heartbreak between the two.

If there's one thing that I got from reading these few pages, it was that the author makes you genuinely care about and root for these characters. You want to see them succeed and follow them along on their journey. I'm excited to keep reading and get a deeper insight to these characters, their cultures, and their families. I'm also extremely intrigued by the fortune that Misbah got while in Pakistan before she married.
