With so much acceptance surrounding lgbt people in the majority of instances today, it’s hard to imagine the lengths people went to to hide themselves in such recent history. Ralph’s story is such a powerful one, and especially impactful on me as an lgbt person who has been lucky to come across very little non acceptance throughout my life to date. It is heartbreaking to imagine that this man got to such an old age before he could throughly be himself and at peace with his true identity. Laura is such a wonderful daughter to be able to tell her dads story in such a beautiful, real way. It’s refreshing to see such honestly surrounding what must be a difficult topic for the entire family. A heartwarming read about an attentive father and husband who loved his family the best he could despite fighting his own demons everyday, a powerful read.
