The point of view of the author is something I really like about this book. Lots of gays could not live openly so they chose to live the normal life until they couldn't live a lie anymore. Usually I read these stories from the point of view of the LGBTQ individual sharing their own story, however, this book is told by the daughter of a gay father.

The story is accompanied by photographs of her childhood and family which I really liked the added visuals. The cover of the book is also very beautiful and unique. Her father was born in the 1930s and the cover of the book reflects this old timey feel.

What's surprising to me is that her father doesn't share his secret with his daughter until his wife has passed and he is in his eighties. He shared his secret with his mom and his wife but didn't tell his own spawn!? I can't even this story is so tragic and beautiful, I'm just happy he eventually shared his true self.
