Laura tells the story about her growing up with a gay Dad and a straight Mom. She didn't find out about her Dad until she was in her 20's. She tells the story looking back at her childhood and how her Dad was so different than other kids Dads but she had no inkling of why. It had to be a very hard story to write and tell and express how she felt growing up and how her life and feelings changed after her father told her he was gay. I think the hardest and saddest part was at the end after her Mom died and her father had his own place and didn't want any pictures of his wife or kids on the walls at his apartment. He wanted pictures of his younger self and life and it seemed like he felt he could finally be who he truly was inside. It was very interesting to read about someone growing up with gay parent and how her parents stayed together for all those years even after her Mom found out.
