This was such a wonderful book. It was emotional, raw and so honest. I think the author really put her soul into this book and you can feel her emotions throughout. I can't imagine this happening to me and then having the courage to tell the story to other people.

It was fascinating to hear about how our parents' relationship can affect the way we are in our own relationships. They created such trust issues in her and she lost self confidence in deciding what was good for her and what wasn't.

It also moves through decades from the 1950s to the present and you can see the change in culture towards the LGBTQ community, such as the aids epidemic in the 1980s and the current legalization of gay marriage.

I liked looking at the photos in the book. It helped to put a face to the 'character' in the book. This is such a different genre than I usually read but I really enjoyed the book.
