Although this is a memoir it is written with so much vibrancy that it almost reads as a fiction novel. The prologue got straight to the point, depicting the day the authors father came out to her with poignant detail. Within the first few chapters you can feel the strong relationship the author shares with her father and all the love within their family. It's easy to feel smitten with the retelling of her childhood, but all the while the persistent fact that her father was not living as his true self casts a shadow. I am already so invested in their lives and very excited to read the rest of this beautiful memoir.
