Okay, the hype for this is REAL! Even though it took me a bit to get into, once I was in, I was IN. So much so that my boyfriend interrupted me to chat about something when I was getting to the juicy part and I got very mad at him!
I've always been fascinated with rich, exclusive private schools with academic undertones, and that was the setting for this pretty fast paced novel. But that's where any comparison to Gossip Girl or The Clique (my favorite series growing up) ends, because Niveus Private Academy is unlike any school I've read about. The insidious racism that lurked behind every corner in the hallways at Niveus was extremely apparent, and I was rooting for Devon and Chiamaka to figure out -- and take down -- Aces.
I'm obviously not going to spoil what happens, but there were many gasp-inducing moments, which is all I could hope for in a thriller like this. I couldn't see where @faridahlikestea was going with the story, which is rare and kept me on my toes. The ending had me shell-shocked and the epilogue...let's just say you won't be disappointed.
