Ace of Spades follows Head Prefect popular girl, Chiamaka Adebayo, and social outcast musical prodigy, Devon Richards, during their senior year of highschool, when things start to go awry and their darkest secrets start getting spilled in the worst, most public ways. Normally running in different circles, Chiamaka and Devon are pushed together to figure out who is after them, and what they can do to stop them, before the rest of their lives are ruined.

Ace of Spades was a riveting book from beginning to the end, it left me completely shell shocked. The book highlights the differences in Chiamaka's struggles as the only Black girl in school who faces the pressure to measure up to society's standards, and Devon's struggles as a scholarship student who also has secrets of his own. The storyline was well done, and the characters were multi-layered and well written. Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé's debut novel absolutely did not disappoint.
