Ace of Spades is like a Pretty Little Liars/Get Out mash up. When the only two (2!!) Black students at the prestigious Niveus Private Academy become the target of someone called Aces their lives intertwine and are changed forever. Devon and Chiamaka rarely interacted before Aces began spreading rumors about each of them during their senior year. Each text blast putting them in more and more danger. I loved Devon and Chiamaka. They are both flawed and driven and stronger than they realized. I do wish the setting was more specific. The author purposely kept the city they were in ambiguous but I prefer the setting to be a larger part of the plot. Other than that one thing (which is really just personal preference) I found this book to be well done, enthralling and it kept me on the edge of my seat! I would recommend this to any of my high school students and friends in a heart beat.
