Ace of Spades is a book in the #BookstagramMadeMeDoIt category. At the end of June this book was buzzing all over here and I instantly gave in and bought it. It’s a YA novel following Devon and Chiamaka as the only Black students in their private school. They are about to start their senior year and everything begins to crumble as secrets begin to be revealed in texts spread throughout the school about them. It’s up to them to figure out who is behind these texts and how to stop them.

I enjoyed my experience reading this book. I couldn’t figure out who was behind the chaos and I desperately wanted to find out who it was. The pacing though was a little slow in my opinion. The reviews I kept seeing were saying it was unputdownable and I didn’t find that to be the case. It read easily, but I would have loved it to be a little quicker. It has great social discussions on so many levels. I’m glad that bookstagram blew this up because it hadn’t caught my eye prior to that.
