** spoiler alert ** This book could have been a 2 or 3-star review until the last quarter and then everything changed for me. It became so much more. At first, it just felt like Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars but racially charged, and then racist, and I just wasn't having it. But that last third to quarter of the book made it impossible to stop reading, I just HAD to know what was going to happen. The fact that every single student and adult at the school was involved was something that I could not seem to wrap my mind around.
I know it is kind of the point for me as a white person, but I just can't imagine any of that happening. I know stuff like this happens all the time, but I can't understand how anyone could be so cruel. I don't understand how people can just give their humanity away to be cruel to others. You can't tell me that in all this time there wasn't a single person? But then again, that's just how things work, it's hard to go against the grain.
