I liked it
I really wanted to LOVE this one! Now, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but I didn’t love it. I found the characters likeable but also infuriating all at the same time. The underlying plot of this story is compelling and I was deeply moved by how the author chose to write about racism. By writing a story like this, she brought light to the issue in a way that really makes people stop and think about what is happening in certain communities even if we aren’t seeing it every where. When our main characters realize what’s happening it a shock that they’ve lived through this mess for so long without even realizing what’s been happening at their school. As the only people of color, you would have thought they would have experienced so much cruelty before their senior year, but that’s not the way of these white poeple. They wait to ruin their lives until it’s almost too late.
