I can’t remember the last time I stayed up reading a book. It’s been a while. But once I started reading Ace of Spades, I couldn’t out it down. I wanted to get to the end and see who was behind Aces.

Ace of Spades is about two Niveus Private Academy students, Devon Richards and Chiamaka Adebayo. When someone who goes by Aces begins using anonymous text messages to reveal secrets about the two of them that turn their lives upside down and threaten every aspect of their carefully planned futures, they must work together to figure out who is behind the texts and why.

Ace of Spades revolves around Chiamaka and Devon. I really liked both characters. Chiamaka is a popular student, but I like that that’s not all she is. We get to see different sides of her. We get to see her home life and her vulnerable side too. It made her more relatable and real. Then there’s Devon too. We get to see different sides of him. I liked how we get to know theses characters pretty well, from home life to how they grew up to why they desire and want.

I was more invested in the characters than the storyline, at first. I liked getting to know the characters and who they were more than the actual plot. The plot at first seemed like a generic anonymous person who wanted revenge, but the more the storyline progressed, the more invested I became because I wanted to know who was behind Aces and why.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I even stayed up finishing it because I couldn’t out it down. It was very well written with a great build up and a perfect ending.
