Fast paced YA story showcasing deep issues
I can always tell when I'm enjoying a book when I look up and I've read more than 100 pages without realizing it. This happened with "Ace of Spades" and I quickly became involved in the story of Chiamaka, Devon, and the students and staff of Niveus Private Academy. I struggled to figure out who Aces was; the mysterious texter who is sharing Chiamaka's and Devon's secrets to the entire school and beyond
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and appreciate the story which highlighted sexual assault, racism, violence, and death of a parent. I did feel that the ending was rushed/improbable and once the identity of Aces was revealed, I would have liked to have learned more about the back story of Aces.
The front and back of this book is so eye catching and perfectly fits with the title/story of "Aces of Spades."
Thank you to both the author and publisher for providing me with a copy of the book
