This book was so much better than I expected, I loved it so much! Going in, since I don't read too many thrillers, I was not expecting to love this book as much as I did.
The pacing of this book, I don't think, could have been done any better. I was hooked from beginning to end and I don't think there was ever a dull moment. The reveals and twists all took place at the perfect time. Although I guessed quite a few of the twists, some of them left me completely stunned to the point where I had to put down the book for a few moments.
The thing I loved the most about this book, however, were the discussions around systematic racism. It talked about it in such a way that is accessible to a younger audience which I loved. Since I myself am a Black teen, I found this book to be extremely relatable, heart breaking, and true to how I personally feel. I highly recommend picking this up if you want an Own-Voices book on Black struggles along with an amazing and hooking plot!
