Tense and gripping, this book nabbed my attention from the very beginning. Set in a posh private school that could live in America or England, it follows Chi, a rich girl at the top of her class, and Devon, a scholarship student who just wants to make it to Juillard, as they face off with an anonymous texter called Aces. The characters are well-developed and even when you don't like them or agree with them, you still understand where they're coming from. This is especially important in this book as you begin to unravel the mystery of Aces- stories about conspiracies and mysterious villains only work when all of the characters feel like real people. Then it's not obvious who the villain is. I was taken by surprise several times throughout the book and only rarely did I have to shake my head at the main characters and tell them that they should know better. Overall, this was an excellent book from a debut author!
