This book takes place at an exclusive private school, it begins on the first day back to class.
A normally boring, and predictable, assembly changes course quickly when Devon gets named as a prefect. Devon is one of the only two Black students and he’s one of the few who isn’t there because they’re rich. Chiamaka is the only other Black student but no one would be surprised that she was picked as senior prefect. After all, she’s been a prefect every year. She’s clearly a perfectionist and playing by the rules to get what she wants is important to her.
I’m very interested to see how Devon might change things for the better.
