This one has been gracing all the "most anticipated YA releases of the summer" lists since basically last summer, especially since the author is 1) a debut and 2) got a startlingly high advance. In the throes of the #PublishingPaidMe movement, Ace Of Spades was making waves - and after reading this first impression, I can totally see why.

Right away, we get a perfect understanding of who both Devon and Chiamaka are, both individually and as representatives of their elite private school. We knew people like them, have read about people like them, and understand exactly what that means. Or do we? There's more than meets the eye here, and I for one can't wait to dive in deeper.
