I love Christian fiction, suspense, and St. Simon's Island is one of my favorite places, so I was SURE I was going to love this book. But it ended up being a bit disappointing for me.
I didn't fall in love with either of the main characters, both of them seemed a little too one-dimensional for me. The only character who I really connected with was Grandma Joy. She was everything that her name would make her be in every sense. Even with her moments where things were fuzzy, she had the most spiritual grounding and common sense.
I've read so many great books that take place on St. Simon's and love the history of that place. With so many amazing stories on that island and so many historical places that really do exist and have a story to tell, I was disappointed that this book happens in a totally fictitious setting and doesn't tie in with any of the noteworthy families of the island. What a missed opportunity!
