Multi-faceted queer love story - I'm hooked!
This First Impression had an amazing start! Aria West, originally from Wellesley, Mass, is visiting her grandmother in NorCal for the summer. When Aria meets her grandmother's queer handy-person, it appears a romance may be budding.
I really liked how they explained the issue she had in school in a way that considered her age, yet empowered her sexuality. The story also depicts queer characters in a respectful, multi-faceted way, rather than just with stereotypes. Plus, as a fellow women's college alum, I LOVED the references to Wellesley.
The writing in this First Impression had me immediately hooked, and the characters are vibrant and nuanced. The jacket cover seems a little muted for the vibrancy of the writing, but I can forgive it. This is a must-read!
