I haven’t read Last Night at the Telegraph Club. But having read these pages of A Scatter of Life I can imagine what all of the fuss is about. The cover is one of the prettiest I’ve seen, and the writing is truly breathtaking. The way it draws you right in and immediately plays with your emotions is a rare beauty in a book. It doesn’t feel like being told a story so much as being brought along on one.
