If I could give this book 1,000 stars, I would!!!!! A River of Royal Blood is both enchanting and captivating!!!! It held my interest the entire time, has so many great characters and was DIFFICULT to place down!!!!! It warms my heart to FINALLY read about female characters of color within a fey/magical world I can relate to!!!!
The beginning of the rival heir started with the first Queen of Myre, Raina, to possess the blood and marrow magick. From then on, if the reigning queen had more than 1 daughter, at the age of 17: they'd have to use their birthright magick to fight each other to the death in order to inherit the throne. Which comes to Eva's first problem: anyone with knowledge of her magick is LONGGGG dead. #yikes
We learn early on Eva is gifted the magick of blood and marrow. Though it is perceived to fear those who possess the magic, I loved this character dearly. She is warm, smart and big-hearted. She loves her older sister, Isa, dearly and would do anything to find an alternative/eradicate the rival heir all together.
I absolutely adore Eva and Aketo!!!!!! I shipped them as soon as they were first introduced and will refer to them as Akeva💛. Please do not fracture this cute couple for me!!! I want SOMETHING to finally go right in her life!!! 😭
ARORB definitely lived up to my expectations & beyond and did not disappoint!!! Amanda Joy is a genius!!!! I love how she incorporated a sprinkle of certain magick referenced throughout...It SURPRISED ME when it all came together in the end! She is very clever!!!
