The stunning book cover and title script reveal a lot for would-be readers of Amanda Joy's debut YA fantasy, 'A River of Royal Blood'! The princesses' figures simultaneously mirror and contrast each other. The juxtaposition suggests their close relationship as sisters... while also emphasizing the conflict and violence that have corrupted that relationship. The title hints at history ('river') and power ('royal'), in addition to ideas of family and violence caught up in 'blood'.

The first three chapters add to this fascinating first impression of 'A River of Royal Blood'. I love Eva's voice, the descriptive language, the world-building, and, last but not least, the suspense! I can't wait to see where Eva's story goes, after the cliffhanger ending of chapter three.
