"A Nearly Normal Family," pulls the reader in immediately. Just the first few pages are enough to build suspense that hooks you. This psychological thriller with an added dash of complicated family dynamics is a good read for this moment if you, like me, are looking for something to completely absorb you and take your mind off of the state of the world.

That being said, some of the storyline--at least at the beginning--felt a little off. Told from the perspective of Adam, the father of 18-year old Stella (who we would come to know is accused of murder), felt forced. I think that was meant to be intentional, but it is difficult to tell if its the writing or the plot, so I deducted some stars for that.
