A Disappointing Read

The main reason I picked up this book was because the synopsis sounded so intriguing. I’ve also become deeply obsessed with courtroom thrillers lately, so I just had to pick this one up. Unfortunately, this was a complete and utter let down.

The novel is divided into three parts, following the father, mother, and the daughter of the family. The chapters of this book were short - the longest it would get was four pages - so getting sucked in was quite easy. I also found the pace to be perfect for me, though I know others would find it slow.

The middle and the end were what didn’t work for me. Though the daughter was an interesting character at some points, I’m tired of the “rebellious daughter who’s secretly sleeping with an older man” storyline, and this one wasn’t different. I also found myself disappointed with the ending. I wish this one had worked out better for me.
