A Tight and Engaging First Impression

I was drawn in immediately with the well-crafted prologue and first few chapters, at this point all from the father's point of view. I found the title to be a good fit, for don't we all consider our families to be "nearly normal", and don't most of us wonder about how quickly our lives could change? The initial build-up was good, and I definitely would like to read this novel.
