I didn't know what to expect going into this book as it's Judy I. Lin's debut book but I loved it. First off let me say that the cover art on this book is exceptional and that alone made me want to pick it up. They just released the cover art for the sequel and I can't wait to get my hands on the book when it releases so that I have the set, absolutely stunning.
I was quite happy to discover that the story was just as enthralling as the cover. Usually my go to is fantasy/romance books and A Magic Steeped in Poison definitely falls into that category. There wasn't a crazy amount of romance in this novel but I'm excited to see Ning's relationships grow into the next book. The magic aspect was very interesting. It was a little confusing at first but it's a magic that's based from tea and I loved that it was intertwined with Asian history/culture.
Overall it was a great read and I highly recommend it.
