Cliffhanger. Bewaaaaaaaaaaaare. This book ends in a cliffhanger. The only redeeming thing about that is that the sequel is set to be released in August of this year.

That doesn't stop me from giving this book a 5-star review though. "A Magic Steeped in Poison" is beautiful from the get-go. Just look at that cover- it's gorgeous! Definitely judge this book based on the cover ;)

There can be something magical about a cup of tea. In this book, it's actual magic. Hard to define the rules of this magic system, but the qualities of tea are written about in a whimsical way. The characters are wonderful, and Ning is a lead character whose adventures are really fun to follow. Very wholesome YA- adventure focused with a very small hint of romance.

I recommend this book for any month of the year- but highly recommend it to readers looking for a book for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. It's not the end of May yet- plenty of time to pick this book up :) Thank you to Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for a copy of this book.
