I have heard a bit of buzz about this book, so I was really excited to see this first impression pop up. And I mean, come on...that cover is breath taking.

Like all good YA books, this story starts with a bang in its opening lines. From the onset you can hear the desperation in the narrator's (Ning) voice in finding a way to save her sick sister (Shu) while also grappling with the loss of her mother, both as a result of her own actions. The magic system through the art of tea sounds really interesting, and the there's a fair deal of foreshadow of something quite sinister to come. This little snippet was just enough to give a quick look in Ning's world and leave me wanting more. I'm really excited to see what happens next!
