I have read both of McCreight's earlier novels, so I was looking forward to seeing where her third book would go - and it didn't disappoint! I really enjoyed reading this engaging thriller! Told in two alternating narratives, across two timelines not far separated and interspersed with some multi-media progress reports and interview transcripts, I had a hard time putting this one down at all! It's fast paced and hooks the reader in with both points-of-view, from lawyer Lizzie with a lot of baggage of her own, and murdered Amanda, the deceased wife of an old law school friend of Lizzie's who manages to convince her to help him when he's arrested at the scene of the crime.

The book is well-plotted, dropping hints and clues along the way that may lead some readers to be at least a few steps ahead of Lizzie. And it's fun to be proven right. I do wish that there had been a bit more in the aftermath for some of the other characters... But, still, this one fully captured my attention from start to finish. I couldn't put it down and by the end, was definitely on the edge of the couch as I stayed up late to finish reading it. I really enjoyed it - more than her first novel, for sure! I am happy that it was chosen to be a Book of the Month Club selection and I am really excited to see what she will write next!
