Kimberly McCreight writes a thrilling novel about murder and marriage. McCreight described this book as part legal suspense, part family drama and there is plenty of suspenseful drama to go around. From the beginning, I was attracted to Lizzie, the lawyer pulled into Zach and Amanda Grayson's world as she defends Zach against allegations that he had killed his wife. Each character in this book was complex, with layers of secrets that kept them (and the reader) from ever truly knowing one another. It showed that not all marriages are alike, and even if one looks perfect from the outside, that does not mean that there aren't serious cracks. I did not expect the ending to go the way it did - the last 100 pages are a seriously crazy ride as secrets are exposed and the truth is revealed. I highly recommend it!
