Thank you to BookishFirst and Harper Books for the free arc from my giveaway win in exchange for an honest review!!

I have FINALLY found a domestic style mystery that worked really well for me. I am very tough on this genre, and this book checked all the boxes for me, making it a 4 star read (which for me is-liked a lot and would definitely recommend).

What I loved: While a little slow to start, I got sucked into this one. It kept me guessing until the very last page.I couldn't put it down after the first 1/4 or so. I stayed up until 3 a.m. one night to finish it even. I felt like all the characters were fairly unique and developed, even the supporting characters. They didn't all run together for me like some reviewers have felt. While many characters are very unlikable, I was still drawn into the drama of their world and wanted to get to the bottom of it.

I think the mix of this being a domestic mystery and a legal/procedural one is really the bright spot. It was a solid mix of upper class neighborhood drama and crime solving from the perspective of a lawyer that's also drawn into the case. The twists and turns are great too. I didn't see them coming, but once they hit, they definitely made sense and it all worked together well with the details that come before.

What didn't work for me: Not much! I felt it was a little longer than it needed to be with some details / side tracks that probably weren't needed to keep the appropriate mystery around the twists and turns. I'm not sure if those will be in the final copy.

Who I'd recommend it to: Fans of B.A. Paris and Lisa Jewell will really enjoy this, I think. And really, anyone who likes domestic mysteries or procedural mysteries will find things to love in this one. A definite must-read for any mystery/ thriller fan!
