First of all, the cover is gorgeous! But I would've liked if all the books in the remixed classics series had cohesive covers.

I really liked Xiang as the main character, I felt her motivations were pretty clear and understantable, but sadly she was the only fleshed out character. The others had a more shallow personality and development (if they had any), and because of this I didn't dig the romance. I felt Xiang and Anh didn't had many meaningful interactions that justified the romance, only their day together at the beginning, so in the end it felt a bit rushed.

I was very intrigued about Xiang's mother, I guessed pretty early on what would be the reveal, but I definitely didn't expect her actions at the end and the whole turmoil between her, the tutor and Xiang.

The story itself had a good pace, it never felt slow or boring, and I loved the food descriptions, they made me hungry. But the end was a bit insatisfactory for me and kinda rushed, I had to repeat the same chapter 3 times to understand what had happened witht the treasure.

Overall it was a pretty entertaining read :)
