I hardly read any pirates book and been wanting for the longest. So when I won this book, I was excited to read it. I am so happy I read it. I really enjoyed every minute of it. I thought the writing was good. It sucked me into the book and I felt like I was there going on these adventures with the main character, Xiang. I also liked the relationship/friendship between Xiang and Anh. And I really liked a lot of the characters I was introduced too. One of my favorite things that this author did was take the history of the "Pirate Queen" ad weaved it into her story and made it her own. I actually heard of the real Pirate Queen so that made me excited reading it in this book. I got really angry with Xiang mother. Like, why couldn't you love or show the love that your daughter desperately wanted from you? This is a Young Adult book I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes adventure and pirates!
