A Clash of Steel by C. B. Lee captured my heart at page 1. Young Adult fresh spins on classic stories are some of my favorites.. this aside, I am a huge fan of pirates and adventure tales of the sea. What really made me excited to read was the fact that the story revolves around two girls in the early 1800’s where piracy is become less and less common. (Even rarer? Female pirates!) the story starts with Xiang, who wears a simple golden necklace from her father. It seems like your average necklace with only sentimental value until a mysterious girl named Anh steals it. Anh agrees to return the necklace to Xiang.. only if she helps decoding a tiny map scroll that was hidden inside. This has the perfect details to capture any reader - young or old. I couldn’t wait to dive into this story. It was a rainy day and I read it cover to cover. I highly recommend!!!
